I did a warm reboot the other day and it went down to 35%, which seemed right. I recorded some thing last night and it was up to 40%, I watched then deleted the shows and it only went down to 37%. Another warm reboot and it went down to 33%.

Any thoughts? Could it be a Navigator problem or is the box just being goofy before it dies? I haven't had any problems with the box before this started up.

I have the TWC Cisco Explorer 8640HDC cable box and here is our new problems:

Problem #1
When someone calls, the caller ID shows up on our screen but you cannot change channels or do ANYTHING to the box! I really do not want to turn off the feature but I do want to use my cable box when someone calls.
Is there a fix (possibly in the sub menues) that I can change to regain control.

Problem #2
Since some TWC recent box update....... when we are FF 3x or 4x the remote is unresponsive to resume play (say after ff'ing during a commercial).
This problem does not appear to be present when FF'in 1x or 2x but only in the 3x and 4x speeds. When we finally press the play button repeadely...... the box ends up going to slow motion mode but waaaayyyy past the commercial we were attempting to pass.
Ideas and fixes would be greatly appreciated.

I found out tonight through accident since I watch NCIS on WDJT with Descriptive Video Service, then flipped over to WITI later to watch New Girl, that 6 has now enabled their Second Audio Program channel. Right now when WITI isn't in network programming, a voiceover on the SAP audio says this in an endless loop.

Quote:

WITI Fox 6 has added a second digital audio channel. The purpose of this channel is to provide audio descriptions of the action taking place during a program, to assist visually challenged people. This service is part of the Accessibility Act, which the FCC is requiring television stations to enforce, effective July 1, 2012. During Fox network programming, 7-9pm weekdays, 6-9pm Sundays, and all Fox Sports broadcasts, the descriptive audio channel will be used as the Spanish audio language channel. It's possible that some TVs will automatically elect the SAP channel. If that happens to your TV, use the remote control to find the audio settings on your television. Once you find the audio channel settings, you will see there are two choices; English and Spanish. Select English. Again, every television set is different. You may have to refer to the instructions that came with the television to find this setting.

Note that the above isn't fully true in regards to Spanish audio; Fox has one DVS program in The Simpsons that carries description, and that was true of Sunday's episode when I checked my recording.

Also, it isn't truly effective until July 2013 for Milwaukee going by this article about the new DVS requirements (Milwaukee is currently Nielsen DMA 34, and the legislation forces the top 25 markets to launch DVS on July 1 this year, then ten more markets each year after that), but I assume Local TV just wanted to get it over with for their stations from their hubs in required cities. So if you suddenly hear a non-ending loop on WITI recordings or DVS or Spanish in network hours, this is why, and also if WTMJ and WISN follow (seems CW and MyNet are excluded from the regulation).

I hope this finally gets WMVS to open up their DVS channel too (never have on their digital signal); for a public television station to not have this feature now is annoying.

I rad this from NorthPine.com
WISCONSIN:
Sinclair Broadcating's WCGV-TV (Milwaukee) has increased from 650kW to 1,000kW, the maximum power for digital TV stations. WCGV broadcasts on digital channel 25 and carries My Network TV on 24.1 and The Country Network on 24.2. WCGV now theoretically has the largest coverage area in the market since its antenna, at 340m above average terrain, is the highest in Milwaukee. (4/25/2012)

So... Why are they back to 1 MW after they were at 1 MW and dropped to 625 kW ERP? Don't get me wrong, I'm happy with it. Just curious.

But, I think I still get WMVT and WDJT in quite a bit better at my location in N Illinois probably because the FCC allowed co-channel interference for WCGV from downtown Chicago. I'm hoping the fumes from WCGV will lead to W25DW moving away from RF 25.

NBC announced that all sports in the London 2012 Summer Olympics would be streamed live on the internet in addition to the prime-time broadcast.

NBC said it plans to stream all 32 sports live on nbcolympics.com when the London 2012 Summer Olympics arrive this July. Rick Cordella, vice president and general manager of NBC Sports Digital Media, said the idea to stream on the Internet came from popular demand.

"The hot topic is always, 'Why don't you show all your sports live?'" said Cordella. "We wanted to take care of that."

The move may seem odd for the American commercial broadcasting television network, which usually depends on the primetime broadcast on television to draw in viewers. However, NBC has found a way to make sure the network and viewers are happy.

While all 32 sports will stream live on nbcolympics.com, the major events will not be archived until after the prime-time television broadcast. For instance, major events in swimming, diving, track and field, beach volleyball and gymnastics are important to NBC's prime-time coverage, so the live streaming version of these events will not be archived until after the TV broadcast. All others, however, will be archived immediately.

According to Cordella, the way viewers watch videos has changed over the years and it's important for NBC to change too. In addition, he said live streaming could increase viewership of an event shown later.

"We're not scared of cannibalization," said Cordella. "Anytime you have a great event that happens before it shows on the air, it increases ratings and generates buzz.

"Whatever is on schedule that day, if cameras are on it, we'll stream it."

The London 2012 Summer Olympics is expected to be the hot spot for technology this summer as Visa and Samsung prepare to launch an Olympics and Paralympics Games mobile handset with NFC technology, and Wi-Fi is expected to be provided to everyone with mobile devices where no 3G or 4G is required.

I have U-Verse internet service 6000/1000.

I wanted to check my speed yesterday and I opened speakeasy.com as I have done many times in the past. This time when I selected a site "i.e. Atlanta or Chicago etc." the speed needle quickly spiked to around 5.3 and in the blink of an eye slowed down to about 1.0 for downloads for the rest of the test. Then for the upload the needle quickly spiked to 9.3 and then within a split second slowed to 3.0. The results showed 5.3 and 9.3. It seems to me that something is wrong because in the past the needle would always hold at roughly what the speed was supposed to be during the complete test. I checked the speed on three computers, one plugged directly into the residential gateway, one plugged into another router behind the gateway, and one was wireless. The results were the same. The needle would always spike and then within a split second slow way down on every test.

Do you think I have a problem with my gateway, or is U-Verse intentionally slowing down the speeds, but spiking the beginning of the results so speed testing software would show a better result? I also tried with pcpitstop.com with the same results.

Thanks

The Inband Network 2 numbers are red which tells me something is wrong. I'm debating calling, but I predict they'll just want to swap out the box without addressing the issue. Could this be a box issue or is it more likely a signal/cable issue?

The box, Cisco 8640HDC, has been noisy lately but doesn't the box always keep spinning up?
