My 5 year old HD DVR from TWC has finally started acting up and I’m thinking of trading it in at Mayfair tomorrow for a new box. Is there anything I should look out for or something I should specifically request? Is the slow navigation on the new boxes so bad that it’s not worth switching if I don’t have to?

Just stay far away from the SA 8300HDC.

I recently got one of the Samsung 3270 boxes & it has been great. It works quickly & reliably like my 8300HD but with twice the recording capacity.

Thanks. Do you think I can specifically request the Samsung 3270 or will they just give me what they have?

You should have a choice. My friend did that not too long ago, asked for a Samsung box, they gave him one.

I went to Mayfair and they didn't have the Samsung. You were right, the other one is terrible. Tried it for a week and took it back. That time they had a Samsung and it's much, much better. Thanks for the advice.
