DTV Hearing Set for Sept. 25

The House Subcommittee on Telecommunications and the Internet has scheduled a Sept. 25 hearing on the digital-television transition but no witness list has been released.

House Energy and Commerce Committee chairman Rep. Billy Tauzin (R-La.) has promised to introduce digital-TV legislation this month.

Tauzin spokesman Ken Johnson has declined to provide details, saying precise legislative language was still being debated.

We are both on top of this it appears Eric! (grin) I posted the link in the programming area under DTV Omnibus. I hope CSPAN carries it. It would be interesting to watch how it plays out.

I have no idea what this means, but it sounds important.
The whole transition to Digital Television was because Congress made it happen. So, because Congress is seeing the same results we have been discussing here, they are having further hearings to see how the transition can be improved. So yes, I am very interested in this. It's a very big deal to those of us who have made an investment and for those who will in the future.

Yeah, I really wonder if there is no coincidence between this meeting being scheduled and the fact that no CP Extensions have been granted for a second time yet, despite the fact that some of them were requested back in the beginning of August. Maybe Congress is getting together to determine what is going to be done with the laggards.
