Hmmm, I wonder what they'll air in its place once Shop At Home goes away? Infomercials?

The FCC gave their approval of the sale to Weigel Broadcasting some months ago. The deal has not yet been consummated, but I expect that to happen soon -- perhaps before Shop at Home leaves the air.

Good Question. They have a working transmitter and antenna in place. Not sure if they have much of a studio. I suppose they have limited studio equipment. I just hope they don't shut it down and decide to leave it sit.

Hope they do something with it. Like run old TV shows and movies. They should be able to sell some ad time to compensate to help pay the royalties of the shows and still money left over to finance the station and its employees.

If they'd run public domain TV shows and movies, I'd actually watch. They do run episodes of "Make Room For Daddy" on ocasion.

Paul,

I am sorry to hear about Home Shopping leaving the airwaves, especially WJJA-TV. I know how much you love to watch WJJA-TV and Home Shopping.

LOL!

Paul,

I really shouldn't critize WJJA-TV. Surely to me sitting at home in front of the TV watching one diamond on a rotator going around the circle for a whole hour to another diamond does not thrill me. There are better things to watch on TV. If I want to buy something, I will goto Southridge Mall and look at diamonds there in real life than buy something off the TV only to discover when the item arrives it isn't quite the type you want.

Obviously, since WJJA-TV ch. 49 has been airing it for the past 10+ years, there are people all over Southeastern Wisconsin watching and buying products off WJJA-TV Home Shopping. They get the results from viewers who have purchased items.

So, I guess we can't complain. Besides ME-TV is coming on 58-3 and will be airing old time TV shows like maybe Amos N Andy, Ozzie & Harriet, Father Knows Best, Hazel, etc... Shenigan, 77 Sunset Strip. Actually the list of shows I made up. Not sure what all ME-TV offers.

Apparently they're not getting very good results anymore if they're shutting down the Shop At Home TV network. I guess more people are going to QVC or the other ones. It's not like there's a shortage of them on TV.

Well, they switched it over to Jewelry Television. And here I was hoping they'd put something on I'd actually want to watch. Silly me... sigh.

As Tim Cuprisin reported on his blog, WJJA went to "bars and tone" at 12:30 today.

No more shopping channel.

I haven't seen the DTV in a while. I'll have to check it out when I get home. Maybe they finally moved the DTV to the Milwaukee Antenna farm, which should be a big improvement.

Is this the analog channel, or the DTV or both?

Analog (and hence TWC's carriage of it). Not sure about digital.

I don't have a digital tuner myself, so I don't know for certain. The colorbars identify as "WJJA-TV/DT" however.

Just flipped on ch.19 on TWC, and MeTV is up and running!

I'm on TWC analog and Channel 19 has always had bad picture quality (going to black and white and the image is a bit fuzzy off and on). This is still happening with the switch to ME-TV and happened when it was the shopping network too.

Anyone else with TWC analog experiencing this?

Update- Hmmm it seems to be a lot better today then it was yesterday... I thought it might have bee a problem with TWC but I guess it was with WJJA.

I have noticed lower video quality on 19, yeah. Can't say I watched it long enough to notice a whole lot past that point... watching a piece of jewelry or a hunk of rock spin forward... back... forward... back... forward... back... isn't my idea of "must see TV."

I have a feeling it's because all TWC does to receive this channel is prop a pair of rabbit ears up, and the signal isn't quite strong enough to be received well. I don't know if they're broadcasting from the WDJT antennas yet... if they aren't, I'd hope that would result in a signal improvement.

Can anyone from WDJT engineering comment?

Every once in awhille WJJA would show something intersting like public domain cartoons or "Make Room For Daddy" (No idea why, but they did). ME-TV is about a thousand times better, of course. :)

The signal on TWC ch. 19 is a re-broadcast from the analog transmitter which is STILL and will STAY on Oakwood Rd. The DTV, I assume will be moved and side-mounted on the WDJT-TV tower. One should expect an improvement from the DTV. They're not gonna waste their time and money to move the analog transmitter since they will be shutting that down permanently in 10 months.

I wouldn't be surprised that the DTV is receiving its signal directly from the analog. I am sure they will change it while they also move the DTV. By then we should see a improved video quality as well as reception.
