Not only is WalMart going to be selling HD DVD players for $99 but I came across this ad showing that they will be selling a PS3 plus 5 free BD movies for $399.

Too bad it's not backwards compatible with PS2.. that's probably why it's fairly cheap for a PS3.

I had a hard time finding the 60gb version so I could play some of my old PS2 games. I was not crazy about the 80gb either with the software emulation. After I got it, I traded out the 60gb drive with a 250gb drive...plenty of room now.

I did the same exact thing by upgrading my HD to 250gb...I have the 60gb which I'm glad because even if the 80gb version will play a PS2 game you have, the PQ is horrendous on it!!!

As far as Wal-Mart selling a PS3 for $399, that's not just Wal-Mart buddy... That's the new SKU from Sony which has Spiderman 3 included and will be available tomorrow (11/2) for purchase.

Differences w/ the 40gb PS3:

-Only 2 USB ports on the front
-No Memory Card slots at all
-No backwards compatibility at all (not even emulation)
-Quieter more efficient processor (now twice as energy efficient as previous models)

Still all in all it's the cheapest Blu-Ray player on the Market

So because of the different graphics engine being used, the picture quality is that much different on the 80gb version? I did not hear about that, I was more concerned about the compatibility. Here is the Sony link to determine what issues are known with previous PS2 games.

Yeah it's sort of crazy but if you search for PS3 backwards compatibility on YouTube there are several videos pointing out the difference in quality...It's quite dramatic actually.
