My HD DVR from Time Warner has rebooted itself about 5 times in the last week or so. I thought my box was finally going bad, but my dad across town said his rebooted a few times this week too. Anyone else see this?

Yes, I have two and they have both rebooted several times during the last week or so.

Both of my 8300HD DVRs do a reboot, one after the other, or so it seems, daily.

It doesn't matter what is going on, as I can be deleting old shows, checking something in the guide or doing absolutely nothing at all, but these both reboot.

Maybe TWC is doing something "special" for us TWC HD subscribers, huh?:huh?:

Is that optimism!? I'm sorry to say that the more time I spend here, the more I am getting down on TWC. Please get us some new HD TWC! :bang:

Yeah same here, the 3 boxes we have in the house have rebooted a few times in the past week.

Maybe they're prepping for the Navigator "upgrade" :bang:

No one on avsforums likes Navigator, they absolutely HATE it- but they might be fixing it by the time we all have to use it, too!
Afterall, other locations probably have it already, too.

I thought the rebooting was because TWC Milwaukee was getting ready to add those 10+ HD channels Gregg's caller was saying we'd be getting in October!

I hope that's why they're rebooting. I haven't seen mine reboot at all, but I've been so busy lately that I probably wouldn't notice. I hope the new channels, if they ever come, are not all SDV.. but knowing TWC they probably will be. I guess that's their way of forcing me to have a box on my other TV with cablecard.

I had an automatic reboot and then it locked-up here in G-town. I then got it on, but thought I should re-boot it manually to clean it up, so I did and it locked up again. I finally got it on and left it alone. I am so glad this f-ing TWC is going away next week!!!!

My HD Boxes are so old it's maybe time to just replace them. I had so many problems with TWC boxes in the past and I finally found a couple that seems to work well. It rebooted right in the middle of the Packer game on Sunday, may I was fit to explode!
A FEW MORE LIKE THAT TWC AND YOU WILL BE OUT OF HERE!!! :)

Glad I found this.....

Do not upgrade, or really downgrade to the 8300hdc unless you like waiting, because that thing is slow as hell.

Friday or 8300 HD started rebooting every 2 hours. So I assumed it was broke(just like my roadrunner modem does) so I took it into TW Mayfair and exchanged it for the 8300hdc, after two night of owning it, today I returned it to TW Southridge and got my 8300HD back. It still reboots, but it is better than waiting for the slow 8300hdc.

The TW guy said they have had so many cancellations and returns and changes to satellite since this rebooting started happening.

TW.....Do you know what the hell you are doing/>???>:huh?: :huh?: :huh?: :huh?: :huh?: :huh?:

Time, the publishing company is amazing and I have great respect for them.:)
Warner, the movie and media powerhouse is a good example for the industry as a whole, IMO.
Mix the two together and you have TimeWarner, an good "marriage" of companies and investments...no problem.:D
But when you add Time Warner Cable and mix it, the marriage can go down differently, perhaps, then you have got problems as a subscriber.

It took 5 months, a dozen calls and finally, our family's business has "Digital Phone" working without any screwups.
The service is actually a good value in many ways, its just the many mess-ups and bad luck on my family's part made it a less-than-desireable install experience.

SO...if you think the HD cable service is going to get better, think again...it could get really good or not so, depending on your twist to it.
-If I were you, I'd keep your non-Navigator box as long as you can and then reconsider your pay TV options, okay?

Same. Getting reboots as well. The last one being Sunday night.

I'm having the reboots also. I got 2 on Sunday.

Also, when I PiP HD channels or record/pause HD channels during live sporting events, my box begins to "stutter" the HD picture and I have to unplug the power cord to reboot my machine in order for the stutter to stop.

I can turn to the SD channel and see it smooth, but going back to the HD version and the image stutters non-stop.

Unbearable to watch. Luckily, the reboots work until I PiP or record/pause again.

This didn't use to happen, I started noticing it a 2 or 3 weeks into the NFL season this year.

So basically, I can't PiP HD channels or record one while watching another without the the stutter appearing.

Lame.

Mine rebooted last night while watching an HD channel as well. Something (not good) must be going on.

Anyone still getting reboots? I've had more in the last 2 weeks than the entire year before it. I'm thinking my box might be bad, but I don't want the Navigator software, so I don't want to swap it out for a new one.

Yeap same here, at least once or twice a week now.

Yes, my latest reboot was Sunday while watching live TV. Just rebooted without warning. That with no instant replay with eSATA drive is making me think about DirectTV.

I really miss ReplayTV. Box always warned when it was going into maintenance mode, commercial skip, telnet access, system message log. Oh and a GUI that blows Passport's away.

Sometimes during the day, I get a HD channel that either does not come in or it is heavily pixelated, especially Universal HD.
Rebooting comes and goes with a particular DVR at a particular time of the day.
One "likes" to do it in the late afternoon, while the other one, late at night.
If you "push" it too hard, it reboots, like going though the guide too fast, then adding recordings and not letting it "catch up".
Everyone has their own horror stories.

My old legacy Pioneer box used to reboot like 2x a week.

I thought that this was because of the limited memory of the Pioneer box, which I had for about 6 years with no problems.

Got an "All in One Package" and I am very happy with it, as well as DVR service. (still running Passport.)

I DID have a "No Data" problem in the IPG between 11pm-12am just before the end of Daylight Savings Time and for about 2 days after DST. In checking with other TWC forums, this seemed to be a national head-end problem for people throughout the United States. Things seem to be OK now.

I haven't had a reboot problem with this DVR. Although I did try a reboot to get the 11PM-12am guide data back twice at the time with no luck. It turned out to be a head-end issue. There are only two issues that I have noticed with this DVR:

1.) Sometimes movie channels will be missing when browsing by Theme and selecting MOVIES, although they do appear under their separate theme categories.

2.) Channel 14 has been a dead channel for years, (at least 15.) This dead channel has existed in all the boxes we have had, and we have had cable for over 20 years. It's supposed to be reserved for Public Access but there is nothing on it and when I go to it, the box will momentarily freeze up. It is as if the channel data has been so old and never updated, that the box doesn't know what to do when it gets to it. In scrolling up to Channel 15 (the ION Network) that channel will sometimes come up dead but only after channel 14 does its freeze up. To solve this problem, go to any active channel and punch in channel 15 without doing a channel up/down, or go to channel 16 and than hit the channel down button and Channel 15 will come in fine.

TWC needs something on Channel 14 to prevent the freeze up or it should be removed from the line-up. This channel is just dead air and its clogging the system. I am sure that this is a head-end issue and not a box issue. Not sure how TWC would fix a channel that never broadcasts anything.

I'm in a different area outside of Milwaukee. We are Public Access on channel 14. I think CSpan is either channel 8 or 99 here. Strange that in suburban areas, sometimes you will get 1-3 channels that are different than the mainstream.

I also have had reboots on the SA8300HD. Mine is a couple of years old and I have an external 500GB Seagate external HD.

Yes mine has been rebooting alot also. It really ticks me off when I'm watching something and it's recording something else because I lose those 5 minutes of that program, in addition to having to change the aspect ratio again if I'm on a sd channel because it defaults to letter boxing.

I am still experiencing random reboots, but not as often. Anyone else? Is my SA8300HD faulty?
