Big Ten Network Will Have HD

There is a thread at dbstalk with the info from the Big Ten network that many of their games will be in HD. Each scholl's football team is to be carried at least twice and a schedule linked over there shows that the Citadel at WI and IN at WI will both be carried in HD by the new network.:D

I'm looking forward to the BTN. Starts up at the end of August and will be in HD on DirecTV in mid September.

I hate to ask, but what is the current status of the BTN on TWC? I know that they are in NFLN-type discussions about whether or not it should go in the basic or digital tier, so I'm assuming it's going to be there in some form, but what about the HD feed - any news there?

Last I saw on TWC about both the NFL and Big 10 networks was that it was a stalemate. TWC insisting on putting them on a sports package and both networks adamant about being on basic, SD or HD. Better switch to D* or be out in the cold.

I've listened to these Big Ten network guys pimp their station getting on the TWC platform for the last few weeks.....

Then I read in the MJS that the BTN wants to charge $1.10 for each Wisconsin subscriber. That's where I would actually campaign against BTN.

That's a high price for a station that most people will only watch 10-20 hours per year...if that.

And if the Badgers are really good, they'll be on the major networks anyways.....not BTN.

I read previously that each team in the Big Ten is playing 2 games that will be broadcast exclusively on the BTN.

Looking at the BTN schedule, the 2 Badger broadcasts will be against The Citadel and against Indiana.

Got a kick out of Wolfley's column today pimping TWC's adding of ESPNU.

You are a year late TWC. LAST year, your customers complained about missing Badger games because you didn't carry ESPNU. This year, with no Badger games on ESPNU, you add it, but "take a stand" against the BTN. When BTN starts up at the end of the month, my rates aren't going up. When it starts airing in HD a few days later my rates won't go up. Sure at some point DTV will have a price increase, so will TWC. And I'll still get more channels (and A LOT more HD channels) for a lower price.

Why would any real sports fan have TWC? They still don't have NFL Network either. They have plenty of shopping channels though for all you shoppers out there. :cool:

AT&T Inc. is giving college football fans access to all the top Big Ten Conference games without having to leave their living rooms.

AT&T U-verse TV has signed a carriage deal with the Big Ten Network to give television subscribers access to more than 400 live events, original programming and conference football games in standard and high-definition formats. AT&T launched U-verse in the Milwaukee market in February.


The Big Ten Network will be available on AT&T U-verse starting Aug. 30. The network is a 20-year joint venture between the Big Ten Conference and Fox Cable Networks. The Chicago-based network will air football, men's basketball, women's basketball and other NCAA-sponsored sports.

The Big Ten Conference consists of 11 member institutions, including Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State, Northwestern and Ohio State.
