Sorry for this rant.. In advance..

Well I'm out of the HD loop for now.. My RCA DTC-100 died in mid August. I checked the warranty (30 Days) and Im out by about 6 months. I called RCA and paid them for a replacement for about$130. I got it after about a 2 1/2 week wait for shipping. They sent me a refurb unit that was junk.

Called RCA again and blew off some steam. They said they would get me a replacement unit ASAP. After about 2 weeks of waiting I get a phone call saying that they don't have any to send me and that they would like to refund my purchase price ($400) or I can wait for the replacement.

So I'm taking the money and running.. Running to a different brand. Any suggestions?

Consider your experience with a silver lining. The boxes which are just coming out now are a ton better than your 1st generation model.

Personally, I am waiting for my order for a Samsung TS-160. The difference between that one and others is the feature which allows high definition to be output "at the same time" as standard definition. This means I can watch high def but still record standard def on a vcr without worrying that the proper switches are set. It also has caller id on the screen and some of the others do not (Sony HD200).

Hope this helps.

Well, if you want to stay away from RCA (DTC-200), there is always Samsung with the T-160, and Sony/Zenith with the HD200/520(?). Those will probably be a little more than your $400, but you can also look around and find a Hughes E86 for probably close to that, especially a demo at Best Buy, Flanner's, or American.
