TWC and HD Tivo?

I have been using an HD Tivo (HR10-250) on DirecTV and after experiencing some issues with it on HD (having to use an OTA antenna for the local HD channels and having annoying dropouts) plus hearing that to get my local HD channels on the satellite's upcoming revised tech, I'll have to replace all my hardware, I've signed up for TWC here in Port Washington.

I have three HD sets, so I got two HD decoders and one HD DVR from TWC. My only complaint is that TWC's HD DVRs are not Tivo's. I like Tivo's interface way better than the standard DVR.

My question: is anyone using a HD Tivo Series 3 box on TWC in the Milwaukee area? I'd like to know what you need to get it to work -- If I can get it to work with TWC, I'll get one. The Tivo website says something about needing two CableCARD decoders. I'm interested in hearing what that entails.

I'm using one, but not with CableCards. I've dumped most of my digital channels 'cause I just wasn't getting value out of them., so I'm OTA HD and analogue cable only (though you can tune the QAM HD locals manually on the S3, the guide data isn't there so you have to do manual recording). For a year's worth of what HBO costs I can buy the Rome set when it comes out.

The only issue I've had with mine is that Channel 58 has some wonky PSIP data or some similar issue that causes it to hang up once in a while. I just record 58 on my LG PVR instead. TiVo is allegedly fixing the lockup issue, but there's no release date for it.

I've seen a few setups where the guy had a series 3 tivo with two cable cards. I personally wasn't impressed, because I like the TWC guide a lot better. But if you really like the Tivo setup that's going to be the way to go. $600-$800 just for the Tivo not to mention the monthly service(unless your a lucky man with a transferable lifetime) is too rich for my blood.

Yeah, I have a lifetime service from my earlier unit -- Hopefully it'll transfer to the new one.

Interesting about the guide -- My wife and I really prefer the Tivo-style guide, where you see more of what's coming up on the selected channel. If the TWC DVR had an option that made their guide work like that, we'd be happy with it. Also, I think the TWC DVR remote is unnecessarily complex. Way too many buttons.
