For the past week or so, AT&T has been installing a brand new service panel next to the road, next to their existing panel, in the condo complex I live in. The new box is huge - probably twice as wide and tall as the existing one. It looks like they're working with copper - not fiber. There's no new construction in my area, so I'm kind of wondering if they're actually getting ready to roll out U-Verse in the area. Anyone heard anything lately?

Lots of overhead cabling has occured for this new service in SE Wisconsin recently.
Most of it is fiber to node (FTTN), not fiber to premise (FTTP), however and this can result in low bandwidth, but for many without HDTVs, a choice vs. TWC only service..very promising.

This is what you are probably seeing, as reported in our forum, a Cingular store out in Waukesha County (Pabst Farms) has demos of it.

IF AT&T can get at least 2 HD channels out to the premises (home), you will be okay for DVR recording and most home uses, but FTTN does not do this well, per reports in avs so far.:(
In any event, phone, internet and TV bundles similar to TWC can compete on some plane with this new service...maybe a wakeup call for TWC.:D

I thought I read somewhere that they only allow 1 HD stream at a time.

It's dependent on bandwidth. The advertised maximum are 3 HD channels into the house.

Can you give me an intersection? I'd like to take some photos.

I just noticed one yesterday by Sprecher Brewery, on Glendale Ave. in the I-43 ROW.

Yes, let's all get out our cell-phone cameras and shoot a few pictures of AT&T installations, please.

Then, email them to TWC!

Don't have a cellphone camera...hate em, plus there are businesses where I consult that you can't bring them in.....anyhow a few weeks ago AT&T installed one in Cedarburg at the corner of Keup Road and Columbia.
