I have a few hours on my new HD70 now and wanted to share my initially comments. I know Ralph is waiting patiently. I got my boc screen made sunday afternoon and watched some HD football, the World Series and a taped mythbusters episode off the dvr. I have it hooked up via hdmi to the 8300 box from TW. Even the sd mythbusters looked good on a 104'' screen. THe world series was way cool. I haven't had a chance to really mess with any settings. I know there is alot of settings to mess with on this one. I'm waiting for my CC gift card so that I can get a dvd player with hdmi and then I can get a calibration dvd from a friend and play around with it. For now I am just busy enjoying watching HD content on a huge screen.

This is my first projector and I think its worth it. I would get it again.

If anyone has any questions let me know.

Congratulations on the projector! As I've said, I'm very interested in the HD70, but I won't be upgrading for 2-3 months yet. I'd love to hear your comments after you get it calibrated. Are you using it in a dark, light controlled room? What DVD player are you looking to buy? The HD70 owners that are using a HD DVD player say it looks fantastic. That's what I plan to buy when I get the projector. I read that the Toshiba HD player is down to $399 now. When I'm ready to buy, it'll probably be even less.

The room has a patio door and two windows. I just got black curtains to hang over everything yesterday. It seems to do a good job. I was just looking to get a dvd player with hdmi output and upconverting. not a hd dvd or anything like that yet.

I don't have an upconverting player, so I can't help you. Hometheaterhifi.com is a great site for DVD player reviews.
