I know that many of you cable TV viewers wish that you could record your HD cable shows.

There is a new computer card that enables you to capture through a HDMI input. I don't have cable, but do any cable boxes have a HDMI output? Is this card of any use?

Yeah there are a couple of boxes that have HDMI.. I think Dish and DirecTV also have HDMI on their boxes. Wouldn't HDCP interfere somehow though?

I don't know, it looks like it's for home video (no DRM).

I saw this card mentioned in the MythTV forum. They don't know what to make of it either.

Seems rather cheap ($250) for a card to archive your HD collection.

I read through everything I found on their web site. Was anyone able to determine whether the in and out HDMI connections do a live pass through. I would assume it does. Also I am not all that up on HDMI. Does that interface handle the audio as well? :)

I looked it up and answered my own question. It does handle both the audio and video.
