I am not a real big TV watcher, so I apologize if this has already been addressed elsewhere on the forum, but I could not find it. I have an antenna and a set top box to recieve HD, and I usually only turn it on for football. (I would use it a lot more if I had a way to record HD, but we usually only watch stuff recorded on the replayTV.) Anyhow, with the football season approaching, I turned on the set top box and found I could not get FOX6. It was fine all last season (for the first time), but now I can not recieve it again. Did they go back to low power? Could something have happened to my setup. All other channels continue to come in fine. Any help/info is appreciated.
Thanks. :bang:

This is why I tell everyone to get cable. I have never had an issue :p

Why pay for something that you can get for free!
I have NEVER had a problem with OTA broadcasts (since they went full power). I can get all channels perfectly.
Try re-scanning for channels, something may have changed since last season. And, in the Packers case, the change doesn't seem to be for the better.

I had this issue a lot earlier in the year on my Samsung 360 box, and it had something to do with my box kept forgetting the channel and was moving it (on a daily basis) into the "blocked channels" list. So it's like the box knew the channel was there, but it was in the list that made channels not show up in the guide. It was only a 30-second process for me to re-add it to my accepted channels list, but it was a pain as it would happen EVERY DAY. Also keep in mind this was only happening with Fox6, no other channels.
I put in an email to Fox6 about it, as we figured it was bad PSIP data in their stream, and a few days later it stopped dissapearing for me. This probably depends on the manufacturer and model of the HD set-top box, but use it as a starting point. I hope it's this simple to fix your issue!

Try tuning directly to channel 33. Maybe that will help. Channel 33 gets mapped to 6-1.
Good luck.

I'm getting no FOX6 signal either. No bars of reception on my Samsung LCD and a "0" strength on a digital set top box that I use with an analogue TV. I'm 4 miles north of the transmitter and I'm accustomed to getting 90's since I got the set top box back in March of this year.
I believe this means they aren't transmitting a digital signal at all. I hope they get it worked out before Sunday at 3:00pm.

It does appear that Fox 6-1 (digital 33) is off the air. No signal on any of my tuners. Just a low level 9 which means just the sideband energy from channel 12's digital.

Looks like FOX6 is back on the air. I'm getting a good signal as of 09/06 at 11:20pm

House recorded fine for me Tuesday night. I'm pretty sure the program I use for recording maps the channels to their recognized channels rather than getting the mappings from the station, so my guess would be that the mapping got screwed up on their end.

I got House, Standoff (Tues.), and Justice (Wed.) just fine.

OK, well I tried again last night and had no signal. It is very frustrating since everything worked fine all last season. I will have to try pointing the antenna in different directions. I have also read the thread about the signal loss due to having the antenna in the attic (where mine is). I guess I may have to move the antenna out onto the roof, but I just don't understand why it worked last year. I am in the extreme southern part of the county in Oak Creek, East of Howell. I am in a single story house, in a newer subdivision. There are very few large trees in the sudbivision, and nothing bigger than a two-story house anywhere around. There is a tree in my neighbors yard that is probably tall enough to be in the line of the signal. Could that be my issue? Perhaps it has grown enough, or maybe things will get better when it loses it's leaves? Either way, why only FOX6? I wish I didn't like the Packers so much. Looks like this would be an easy season to skip for most fans...unfortunately I will insist on suffering thorough each and every game. I feel bad for my kids. I am going to be in a bad enough mood as it is after the games...having to watch in SD is just going to make me that much grumpier.

Sounds like you're talking about my house. I'm in roughly the same area and I have the same problem with 6-1. It comes in once in a while and then it's gone. I have an antenna in my garage attic (single story) with a two story house directly to the north of me. It (the 2 story house) attenuates the signal from 6-1's tower since their tower is further east and I can't see it directly from my current antenna location. All other stations come in fine (even when channel 61/18-1 was at low power). I really need to get the antenna outdoors but placement is an issue with the two story house to the north of me.
If I place it on the peak of my roof I'm aiming right at the side of the 2 story house. If it goes on a short tower behind the house I can see 6's tower but not the others. A 40 to 50 foot tower would solve the problem but that's not going to happen anytime soon.
Two adjacent channels (33 or 6-1 & 34 12-1) one I can receive well (34) the other I can't (33 because of house blockage). Antenna placement is the key.
Down the road from me is a line of trees. Last winter I had perfect reception on 6-1 when the leaves were gone. The lack of leaves is probably just enough to bring up the signal level to an acceptable strength. As much as I love summer....

Well, I appear to have success. The antenna was pointed basically due north when I was having problems. I moved a a bit to the west, and that did not help at all. I moved it quite a bit to the east (maybe aout 30 degrees), and I am picking up a pretty good signal from FOX now. I have been watching about 30 minutes of COPS (when did they start doing that in HI Def?), and I have had the picture freeze on me momentarily twice. I don't have time now, but maybe moving it a bit further east, or perhaps a wee bit back to the west may make it even better. I still don't get why it changed, and I am wondering when it may change again. I am thinking that putting it on the roof with a rotor may be what I eventually have to do. Thanks for your help.

Last night and today I'm showing no signal for 6-1. Is the problem on my end? All of the other stations are coming in fine for me, although I did bump my antenna in the attic by accident.
Please confirm if 6-1 is on the air, or not.
Thanks in advance.

I've got it on the air here, full strength.

Thanks Gregg. I adjusted my antenna, and I have their signal again.

I am banging my head against the wall again...any advice would be appreciated. If you recall, I was having trouble getting FOX6 with my antenna in my attic. I rotated the antenna from due north about 30 degrees to the East, and I was able to pick up the signal, but the picture does freeze momentarily from time to time...probably several times per hour. I decided I would just have to move the antenna to the roof to solve the problem...possibly adding a rotor. Based on other threads, it sounded like my antenna inside the attic of my aluminum sided house would cause quite a drop in signal strength. Well, today I mounted the antenna (temporarily) on my roof, and my signal strength is exactly the same as it was in the attic...so much for that theory. Well, now I am stuck again, so here is my setup...any tips on what people may see as the problem would be appreciated...
I have a Zenith GEMDTV1 antenna...you can see a picture of it at buy.com. I got it because it was small...and I wasn't aware of all the good results with the cannelmaster at that time. I just went to Menards and it was the best option they had. I have a 25 foot coax run from the attic to the basement. There I have a signal amp that I also bought at menards. From there I have a 50 foot coax run to a wall jack by the tv...then I have a short piece of coax that goes to a splitter. From there I have a short piece of coax that goes to my samsung SIR-T151. The other lead from the splitter goes to my receivers fm antenna. I receive all signals...every milwaukee channel...at "9 bars"...a little over 50% I would say based on how this receiver displays signal strength. The picture from every staton is just fine, but occasionally the picture will just freeze and the receiver will have to re-lock on to the signal...
What should I try next...
Thanks

Come on...somebody must have some advice...some thoughts on what my issue is. Tonight I wathced the packers game (Eagles just took the lead 10-9) and other than a little pixelation, I have not had any problems, and my signal is just "4 bars" on my reciever...about 30% of max. Why do I have no problems tonight, and when I have a signal strength of "9 bars" with the antenna in my attic, I lose the signal periodically. I have not noticed any increase in signal strength since I moved the antenna outside, but I do seem to have fewer of those periodic signal losses...
One of you guys must have some ideas...
Doug Mohr...are you the same Doug More who used to play bass for In Decision...what do you think?
What about that pirate guy...oh yeah...he's rich and has cable...
Isn't there anyone who can give me some real help...
Thanks.

Just visit Marmax, one block east of Rawson & 76, on the left side, and spend $20 for ChannelMaster 4221 or better, $40 for ChannelMaster 4228. Try it first without amplifier first. :guitar:
