I saw a Katrina Cravy promo for segment she's doing on high definition tomorrow night. She'll be talking about HD-DVD and BlueRay, plus HD radio.

I'm curious to see how accurate and/or biased it is.

I wonder if this is the one where milwaukeehdtv.org's resident pirate, Paul S, will be interviewed. He mentioned something about doing an interview when I saw him at a bar almost 2 weeks ago...maybe it takes them that long to edit down the interviews and come up with their story. Paul, care to share what you know?

Will it be during the 9:00 or 10:00? Don't want to miss it. :)

I wonder if they will make a reference to those
"new DVD players with stereo hi-fi sound"
again, just for kicks, like last time.

Just couldn't keep laughing (and in shock at the same time) when that happened with the past HT segments.

Well, that wasn't really very much of a story and it was lacking in focus.

I'm not sure who this was aimed at. It was probably over the heads of non-HD techies. How many average viewers even understand that DVDs aren't already HD? Why show an Xbox 360, but not even mention it in the story? They mention the PS3 playing BD titles, but not that the Xbox is soon to have an HD DVD add-on.

About the only thing they did focus on was expense.

Worst of all, they didn't point viewers to this forum.

For those of you that missed it, you didn't miss anything (except for seeing our forum's Paul S.)

They made me do that goofy face, BTW.

Fox sucks- I told them about the whole Xbox vs PS3 deal (as memntioned above) and they used nothing of it. they were here for over an hour and I gave them sooo much good siht and thats what they put up? Baaad taste, FOX!

I meant to make a warning thread, but between the driveway construction and working second shift, I completely forgot.

It just sucks that I gave them so much great information and they take the worst of it to show. :bang:

PS- I even mentioned the web address for here, too.

Paul S:
I knew they would make a "quickie clip" for their programming since I have friends in the business
(no, not at FOX) and that is how they "do" things.

As for you, it probably wasn't your best moments, but you have a certain "on-screen presence" and it showed! :D
Now, I don't think the "local celebs" have to worry about you replacing them anytime soon, but I liked you on screen and watched it (DVR'd it) a couple of times.
They hid your basement for the most part and those dogs figures of yours as its seemed as though you were in the dark, FOX not even showing your equipment or now-functioning (?) SXRD...seemed sort of odd, at least to me.
It was bad not showing off your other HD equipment. :(
Understand, it was all about FOX doing a "segment" on the high def discs with some HD Radio thrown in, nothing more.

When they are ready to show HD equipment ownership and with it, really discuss more than just high def discs, I'm ready for the next interview-without the goofy faces they made you do. :D

Thanks for doing it Paul, you were fine - even with the craziness!

Thanks to whoever put that online. I didn't get to watch it on TV. I thought it turned out just fine except for the goofy faces at the end of your interview :D

Its embarassing, man. Had I known the camera was on, I never wouldve done it. They made an *** out of me and I dont like that.

I don't think it made you look like an ***. It looked like you were making a face in indecision. I do that all the time.

I guess it's different when it's not you on TV looking like a jag. I just got an email that their sister station in Dallas is taking the story. Wonderful lol

Over the years, I've been interviewed a lot for pieces in print, on the radio and and on TV... for my own company, some that I've worked for, organizations I've been a part of, or just to be interveiwed as being an "expert." The quotes they chose, the way they spun the story, the angle they presented...all of it just left me scratching my head. Almost without exception, they've NEVER gotten it right. And it's not just me...I see pieces on TV, or read articles in the Business Journal about my industry, and the misinformation that goes out as fact is just mid-boggling.

It's to the point that I have to really think twice about agreeing to be interviewed.. I figure that, whether they get their info from me or from someone else, they'll get it wrong... at least if I beg out, it won't be me that looks like a dunce. ;)

Makes me wonder if they're ever right about anything.

I agree. I've been interviewed on TV six times and they never use anything of substance on the final program. They appear to have the plan all scripted out prior to the interview, and they just string you along until they get the bites they want.

The worst was when they cut a sentence in half to completely reverse my meaning. The whole sentence was "I have heard that accusation numerous times, but all from [name withheld]." They way it was aired was "I have heard that accusation numerous times" and then prefaced it with the reporter post editing in "The complaints appear to be widespread."

Now I always turn them down citing the lack of quality journalism in the past as the reason. Funny, my phone hardly rings anymore...

Dallas? Cool...you are going to be a star at this rate, heck with the "local celebs" here, you're going "national" with your, er, FOX6's show.

Stand back, Tom Cruise (jumping on the couches), here comes "indecision Paul S."
(about which high def format to buy-see the show)...

They made an *** out of me and I dont like that.I wouldn't say they made an *** out of you, but the way it was edited, you did look like a goof. They practically made it sound like you couldn't afford your HD stuff, but were still compelled to buy it.

It was a bad piece, even for local TV. I can't see how any viewers got anything out of it other than HD is expensive and risky.

Seeing that they broadcast in HD, you would think they might actually want to do something to promote it.

Paul don't feel too bad about looking an A...

They do it to just about everyone.

I've done a few interviews over the last several years. For different stations.

I too felt that I gave them some "Good Stuff" They wanted someone who knew what they were talking about and they found me.

After seeing it on TV especially one time, trained chimps looked and sounded better than I did.

Come to think of it, maybe they do look better,

NAH! :D

Thanks, guys. I feel better now that my father has finally finished laughing at me, along with most people I know (we're all jackasses lol). It's weird though- In the 'old days' I'd run over to pick a fight and throw down, now I'm too old and responsible n' stuff
