Anyone have a clue when we'll get the multi room 8300 in Milwaukee? I talked to a twc rep at mayfair yesterday and he wasn't even aware such a thing existed.

This looks nice, but I'm sure if they do decide to offer it, it'll cost more.

A TWC service person told me over a year ago that they'd offer that sometime.

My understanding about the 8300HD "MR" cable box is that it is your "master" box and the "slave" boxes will still be changed as rentals.

So for the money, I will rather have the HD DVRs in all rooms with HDTVs because when one of mine went out recently, I was glad I had a backup HD DVR in another room. :D

If you have a family that records different shows on different boxes, thus giving you more space on say, the family room DVR, the others can keep their shows on their TVs or HDTVs, too.
Unless TWC is adding that extra SATA box HDD (never did) to increase recording space, you will run out of hard drive space even faster with one HD DVR box, too.

Think about it :
If the "master" cable box (the MR), which is the HD DVR, goes bad, you are just screwed...no thank you.

I've had a couple of conversations with someone at TWC who has actually familiar with this piece of equipment. It did not successfully go through BETA testing here and is currently not being looked at as a viable option.

Here is a pricing example from TWC Terre Haute, which shows the Multi-Room DVR service adding $2.00 to the regular per month DVR service charge.

Glad to hear it...looks "cool" in concept, but in reality, its a "wash". ;)
If it had a much bigger hard drive (SATA), a way to archive your recordings elsewhere if the MR box crashes and it saved on box rentals, it might be acceptable, but no. :p
