Directv Customers w/o local channels

Anyone out there using Directv without subscribing to their local channel service. All of a sudden I notice today tha the local channels are working on my box....is this some sort of freeview or did they screw up so I should shut up???

It's a freeview. My Dad is getting them too, without subscribing.
