Need some help fellas:
I have a Mits WS 55807. With my old 'analog' cable, the picture would fill the screen in my 'standard' mode. I beleive I have 5 format options Standard, expand, zoom, stretched and narrow.

With the my new 3100 TWC box, I get black bars on the left and right side AND my TV is telling me that I cant swtich formats because of HDTV format. I assume that this is because of the box. I also assume that on the HD TWC channels I get the black lines on the side because they are converting 4:3 aspect programming.

Can you guys confirm?

Also, the old 'analog' channels - TBS, TNN, CBS,etc. have a worse picture than on the old 'annalog' cable. Can you confirm?

Thanks!

You are now feeding the signal into the 1080i inputs (the component or DVI video ports), this takes away control of screen stretching. The screen stretching and other items are only allowed when receiving a standard NTSC signal...ie: old analog TV.

No you can't stretch a 1080i source on the Mits. Future SA boxes may allow that but your TV is stuck for now.

As for PQ that is digital... though I'm pretty certain some of Mit's picture enhancement tricks make it appear worse. SVM (which can be diasbled in the service menu) and edge enhancement (can be tuned with an I2C device) both can make a noisy picture worse.

Hope you are using high quality component cables and a good S-video for the others. check www.bettercables.com (http://www.bettercables.com) for really good stuff at prices less than some of the top names. Nothing like a well tuned widescreen to show off good cables.

Thanks for the info. I did purchase some Monster 2 cables to connect the box to the Mits.
