So who provides cable in the TOWN of Jackson? TWC says it's Charter, but the Charter Web Site says it doesn't provide Cable there.

My sister lived in an apartment off of highway 60 in Jackson and her provider was Charter.

edit: Didn't realize there's a town and a village... where's the border?

It appears that Sherman Road (South of 60) is the border. South of there is the Town of Jackson. Not sure how far south it goes before it becomes the town of Germantown, but there are also the towns of Polk, Rockfield in there too.

Guess if no-one wants to sell you cable...you have to go OTA and Satellite, or if the neighbors have cable you will have to steal it seeing as they won't sell it to you. In that area I'm pretty sure it's Charter or something that's why the Village has Wireless Internet available.

Jackson has wireless Internet... and it's provided by the Village as a ulility. One of the first in the country to do it that. We know SOMEBODY provides Cable, cuz there's a cable box at the back of the lot.

What Mark would do if they didn't provide cable but the neighbors had it: Offer to pay half the bill monthly and any fees for a cable box you have... add a 2-way cable amp and split on their incoming line. :D :D

...or get satellite.

I live in the town of Jackson on the north west side. The cable provider is charter for the town of Jackson and the village of Jackson. It heads way north of me and south to pioneer rd. The line is drawn 2 blocks north of hill top rd just east of US45. I have a couple of friends that live up here. The OTA reception is good. Charter has a good selection of HD channels HBO, Showtime, HDNTM, HDNET, ESPN and local channels. I have not heard of an area networt. I think Ill take my laptop and drive down into the village to see if I get reception.

Does Charter have the Music Choice music channels? That's ultimately what I was trying to find, but their site won't let me see the channel lineup until I enter a valid address in their service area.

Yes they do have Music Choice. Channel 900 and up. They also have TNTHD, & that channel 10 HD program. Their customer service is good but there web page is less to be desired.

What about the Charter's picture quality of the mid-tier channels? Time Warner still sends all their sub-100 channels in analog and it shows... seems odd that all the shopping channels get a crisp, clear digital picture, but National Geographic, Outdoor Life, Animal Planet, Discovery, etc. look like you're watching them through a screen door.

Yes from Channel 74 down it looks likeook like you're watching them through a screen door. But thats the price you pay For tech.

There's a very interesting story behind that wifi internet service in the village. But the last I heard it fell through. I could be wrong. And yes Charter is the cable provider. Do they cover the entire town? I can't say for sure. It depends primarily, if not soely on population density. It took 10 years before they brought it down my subdivision road, and the main cable line ran right past our subdivision on Pleasant Valley road.

OK... was coming down to crunch time as we're close to pre wiring/cabling the house. I made my decision... I'm going back to DirecTV in the new place...but I'll be installing my dish right where the Cable would be coming in so I can change my mind later if I want. :)

So any new info on what my Broadband Internet options are... besides cable?

If I am assuming your still talking about your sister in the village of jackson. You then have 5 possible local options. Charter Cable which my son just got at $25.00 a month, Village Of Jackson WiFi, not sure on the current price, or if you can see the big Hwy. 60 tower just east of Hwy. 41 then you have the option of Netwurx or Nconnect wireless, rates vary. Last but not least is SBC DSL. I have Netwurx wireless here in the town of Jackson. :)
