View Full Version : Current TV - a new channel

A new television network started by Al Gore (and no, it's not supposed to be political, at all). Apparently it will be starting on Monday Aug. 1st @ 11pm CST on channel 366 on DirecTV, and from what I've read, it will be taking over the Newsworld International channel... so I think it should be on channel 101 on TWC Milwaukee.

If anyone knows for sure what channel this will be on, or if TWC MKE will pick it up at all, let me know!

If you don't know anything about it, check the website at www.current.tv, it actually sounds pretty cool.

Looks like it's already started... channel 101 on TWC.

My initial reaction - I like it! Nothing political about it at all (they seem pretty careful about staying neutral when issues are brought up) and some very interesting short films. Every show on this channel is between about 2 and 10 minutes. The cool thing is that everything on this channel is produced by people like you or me, and then voted on by the viewers on their website, to decide which shorts make it to air.

This is the perfect channel to flip to when there's nothing on worth watching, or just to have on in the background. What does everyone else think?

It is not HD - so I don't care. Maybe some SD folks will like it.

Thank you...seems like TWC does what it wants to do (and add)...I wanted the the NASA-TV channel (not just for the few launches) for everyday (among others) that take very little bandwidth, but to no avail.

If it isn't HD, sorry, TWC, no thank you, but thanks for the update, Mark Strube!

Not quite... Current TV bought out the Newsworld International channel... a channel TWC already carried. They didn't really "add" anything.

Check Lyngsat. It's listed there as ITC. :)
