Well my ProScan 38000 (the same as the RCA F38310) 38-inch HD set is history! American TV could not fix it after nearly 3 months. They gave me a full tv & 3 year service contract refund. Ordered the NEW Toshiba 34HDX82 34-inch widescreen tube set which just came out and won't be out to retailers for 2-3 weeks. I also got the Samsung SIR-T151 HD decoder.
My question to you Toshiba owners:
Do your sets handle 720p through the component ports?!?!? I have an XBOX that has games coming out in 720p. Do the Toshiba's upscale to 1080i?I don't think it's a 720p native set. My Samsung decoder has an output setting switch for each 480i/480p/720p/1080i.
I would imagine if the set isn't 720 native then the decoder will upscan 720p OTA if I put the switch on it to 1080i. Anybody with a Samsung decoder know if it does this?!?!----- GS kid

I have an older Toshiba, and it will not accept 720p through the component video. Toshiba's set top box, not the television, automatically converts 720p to 1080i.

I think the Xbox will automatically convert 720p to 1080i if you specify this in the options menu.

I'm no expert though, as I do not even have one. I just seem to remember reading about this somewere....
