Consumers should get better over-the-air reception of digital television signals, thanks to improvements in DTV receiver technology, Sinclair Broadcast Group said.
The station group field tested the so-called "fifth-generation" DTV prototype receivers last month and the newest versions showed improvements in reception using indoor antennas, particularly in the reduction of ghosts.
The informal tests were conducted last month by Sinclair and Zenith, Sinclair said. The biggest benefit is that consumers can get quality DTV reception without subscribing to cable or satellite, Sinclair said.
