? about Young & Restless on CBS

OK so after I told my wife that we could Tivo her favorite soap in HD I just checked it out & it shows up postage stamped in the middle of my 4:3 screen, even though it's a HD show & the Tivo format is set to 1080i. All other HD shows display as letterboxed with the format set to 1080i; any ideas about what's going on here?

Yes are you sure you recorded channel 58-1 (1-1, 46-1) and not the analog channel.

I did a manual recording of 58-2, which is really 58-1 on the HD-DTivo

either the show wasn't in HD today for some reason or 58 didn't switch over to the HD feed.

Can't say I am a Y&L fan, but I have stopped by the channel once and awhile to see the HD PQ and only once was it in HD. Every other time it was SD. Don't know why.

I never watch it, but I happened to be home yesterday at that time and seen it on the guide. Flipped it on to see how it looked and it was only SD. I seem to remoember putting it on sometime before and it was HD. Maybe there in reruns.

here's the answer i got from someone at the station--

The Young & Restless is currently being broadcast in what we call "upconverted". This will give you the effect of the postage stamp. We have been broadcasting the show like this since January, though we will broadcast the show in HD when we make some equipment upgrades, though I can not give you a definite time on when that will be completed.

weird.. it used to be in HD on WDJT.. I would make a bigger deal about it except... well, I don't really care. :P
