The DirectTv and Dish merger has been canceled. Looks like there will be a lot of duplication of bandwidth up in space afterall.

It just leaves the door open for someone like Murdoch to buy them...and trash them.

I will crawl back to Time Warner before I pay for DirecTv owned by that idiot Murdoch!

Yes-same for me...Murdoch is as in FOX as in Faux 6 as in "quantity and no quality"...a real DIRECTV killer. It seems odd to me that DIRECTV is going for the upper income group and DISH is doing the bargain-basement thing right before Murdoch tries to get his ugly paws on it. My source is DBS Forums. Right when you are oh-so-happy with more HD from DIRECTV (or so it appears to happening), Murdoch and his cronies will take it away. I have noticed in my channel 90 performance (triple-sat link) and the DBS Forums postings, of which I am a member also, that they are "toying" with their satellites reconfiguring things for next year's upgrades. Noticed, too, that there is a spot on my billing that denotes HDNET and HDTV service with no dollar amount-yet. Murdoch will probably make this a non-event soon enough. If satellite was truly "competitive" , then DISH NETWORK should be giving me my locals so I can truly "Dish" cable: I would love to get HD Discovery. Ergan can stop making Dish Network the "cheap satellite" service and realize what Murdoch is soon to give him: a stampede from the former DIRECTV subcribers: TWC, take note too-but give me my DVR and HD CBS first (negotiate with them)!
