TV 6 9:00p.m. news did a story on purchases of big screen televisions spurred on by the Packers in the playoffs. It was hilarious, watching them talk about big screen sales while intentionally ignoring the words "high definition". It was a dishonest story, intentionally ignoring one of the major driving forces behing big screen sales, simply because they do not offer anything approaching high def. With the last two Packer games in HD, we have seen what sports can really be. Fox 6 is pretending that HD doesn't exist. They really are special, aren't they.

They should do a story on people buying big antenna to pick up their Digital signal.

Interesting!!! I would think ch. 6 would want to promote HD. I notice the Sinclair Broadcast Group has a special section about Digital and Hi-Def, explaining what it is. I learned somewhere that Sinclair does intend to upgrade their digital signals to offer Hi-Def. So eventually someday WVTV and WCGV may offer Hi-Def. Afterall some WB and UPN network programs are in Hi-Def.

Before WVTV and WCGV offer Hi-Def I would expect by that time WITI-TV will have made the tower and power change and I should be able to receive WITI-DT here in Muskego OTA.

Yeah.. I can see the report:

"Crystal Clear Pictures... Just like being there...Almost the entire primetime lineup of America's Favorite TV shows is available in HD on Channel 4, 10,12 and 58, but not here on 6, where we have none... The truly killer app is NFL football...like watching the game from a luxury box... available on ABC, ESPN, and CBS, but not here on Fox...The Pioneers in Milwaukee TV have now been doing HDTV for a few years...and maybe someday Fox6 will it do it too"

They also did a story at Sendiks in Whitefish Bay on how the grocers are benefiting with increased food sales. It was a lame-o story but it was okay by us, as our 9-month old daughter got to be on TV. It was only 3 seconds but was full frame and she looked so cute (okay I'm biased being daddy and all...:) )

Our Amy's had 3 seconds of fame, now only 14 minutes and 57 seconds to go...:D

That's a good pace... She'll finish out her 15th minute when she hits what? 100 years old?

Kerry if you would've emailed one of us with Pc Cards we could've recorded it in 480i with grain and snow and all the rest.....now if it would've been in HD on a real HD station that would've been great.

BTW I have captured newscasts with friends on the news and printed pictures from the captured stream and it's actually pretty good. It was a 6 newscast and has the logo in the corner so makes a good keepsake.

We captured the newscast on TiVo both at 5:30, 6pm and 9pm :D

At the weekend (when the TiVo is not recording anything) I will take it to our computer and capture the segment (its a shame I just can not digitally extract the video over ethernet) so I can encode it on a DVD I am making of Amy. It will be cool to have that with the Fox 6 logo. I will also be able to slow down the video and put in frame interpolation so it is nice an smooth, so perhaps her 3 seconds of fame will be 10 seconds :D

I know, I know, I'm sad... But hey! I'm a dad now....

I'll encode it using WM9 as well and i'll stick it on my website. I'll let you all know when its there..

My Fox 6 DT OTA signal seems perkier lately. Did they move to the tower, or is it the weather?

I just hope that next season is 720P on Fox. DD5.1 sound would be cool too.

Can you quantify "perkier?" :) What is your signal strength?

Naw nothing in Cedarburg with the tower mounted antenna......give them another 3 years to get it done...and maybe they'll have it going in time to shut down their analog.

About half way. The Samsung doesn't give out numbers. I guess since you are asking, it hasn't happened yet.
