I've kept the spectrum analyzer on here at the office. Nothing on DT34 spectrum and about an hour or so ago DT33 disappear....maybe maybe they are now moving it to the big tower..I hope so because when DT34 or DT28 is on the air they are unreceivable.
Keep you posted.

I'm sure they'll quote their press release as seen below:
WISN-TV Launches HDTV In October
POSTED: 3:45 p.m. CDT September 4, 2002
MILWAUKEE -- WISN-TV (Channel 12) announced today that it will offer high definition programming by mid-October. The station will be transmitting a digital signal on WISN-DT34, which is actually Channel 34 on the UHF band.
"As a growing number of viewers in southeast Wisconsin are able to receive a digital signal, we are thrilled to begin offering high definition programming this fall," says Frank Biancuzzo, president and general manager at WISN-TV.
During the 2002-20003 season, ABC will offer more than 13 hours of high definition programming each week. That includes popular shows like "NYPD Blue," "The Wonderful World of Disney," and "The Practice," as well as new programs such as "8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter," "MDs," and "Push, Nevada."
WISN-TV, the ABC station in Milwaukee, is owned by Hearst-Argyle Television. Hearst-Argyle owns 24 television stations, and manages an additional three television and two radio stations, in geographically diverse U.S. markets. Hearst-Argyle trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol "HTV."

Just spoke with Dave Kaylor, Director of Engineering at WISN12.
They are in testing.

Ahhhh, mystery solved. A courier goes to Faux 6 and borrows the 9 volt battery from the FRS digital transmitter, taking it to WISN to test theirs. This explains WITI 's signal shutdown. After a couple of hours WITI calls back and they shuttle the battery back to Green Bay Avenue and reinstall. Perhaps a fund raiser for an AC adaptor is in order. http://www.milwaukeehdtv.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

Naw... Squirrels made too much of a mess from their "surpluses" the 9 volt is much more efficent, and could be used for a wide variety of purposes

If we can't joke about the sorry state of affairs in our digital realm... we'll go crazy http://www.milwaukeehdtv.org/ubb/smile.gif
Can someone help me... In TV speak what does mid-October mean? In computer speak, it means of some future year. AS the press release mentioned 2003 I wonder if that is what they meant??? Mid-October 2003. A heck I am going to watch NYPD Blue anyway.....

We joke about it but these multi-million dollar investments for the stations present some interesting problems. They aren't used to dealing with installing what amounts to a brand new station and they're struggling to deal with it. Add to the mix that with the internet they're doing it in the public eye. Engineering departments are pressured to make promises for live dates and don't have the expierence to know the difficulties in setting up. The last minute rush to go digital because, I'm sure, of financial pressures make an orderly transition difficult. I'd guess they never thought the deadline would be enforced. So now they have to hurry up and get it going. The start date was just a wild guess. Now all the little glitches are piling up and slowing down the installation. Since they're used to being the questioners and not the questioned they don't know what to do-so they say nothing. WTMJ and WDJT did this the right way-planned ahead and got it up and running with time to spare. WITI managed to turn this into a comedy of errors by doing one of the most half-assed jobs possible. As for the Sinclair boys, they're still fighting the last war leaving them perennially behind. We'll know when WISN is getting ready to go live when we see some actual signal coming out of their stick-and I'd bet they don't know when that will be.

Damn those press releases which push those expectation levels up. They are working hard. Testing lots. Reducing expectations a bit will help. Much good to come. Think high power (good signal seen by all) and 24X7XHD (when available by net). Competition arrives.
(soon guys soon). whooo hoooo

First of all, these deadlines have been around for many years. And that is not even including the extension. Are we trying to defend the procrastination??
Secondly, I quoted THEIR press release. Please don't spit in my eye and tell me it's raining.
Actually, I have learned to be patient over the last two years of empty promises. The reality is that network TV has been losing viewers steadily over the last several years. Finally, network TV has an advantage offer fractured Cable mini-networks, It's almost a study in edselism as to why the networks (save, of course, CBS) don't take advantage of this short window of opportunity?

The last minute rush to go digital because, I'm sure, of financial pressures make an orderly transition difficult.
Which is why a commend CBS58 for how they handled it, although I can't stand the multicast. They knew it wasn't going to be simple and were testing and then up and running far in advance of the 5/1 deadline. They weren't the first, but they met their end of the FCC agreement and did so in an organized and prepared manner.
NBC and PBS obviously wanted to take the lead. PBS has turned into a comedy of errors running Barney, DragonTales, or Teletubbies at midnight instead of HD. It's nice to see a HD schedule though finally.
They aren't used to dealing with installing what amounts to a brand new station and they're struggling to deal with it. Add to the mix that with the internet they're doing it in the public eye.
This might actually make for more entertainment than those eagles.
