The link below is "Committee Correspondence" from The Committee on Energy and Commerce; W.J. "Billy" Tauzin, Chairman to Michael K. Powell, Chairman
Federal Communications Commission (FCC) about Congress's intent to create an Omnibus DTV bill. Please note the date of the letter.

Interesting reading. However, I have not heard anything about this bill recently. Has anyone else? Maybe this was just a letter to start a fire under the FCC to get things moving again. Maybe that is why the FCC came out with the order about mandating tuners in all receivers in August 2002.

Yes, it may very well have been the catalyst for the FCC's tuner requirements since that announcement was made on 8/8 by the FCC I think.

Definately two people to remember. Maybe we can get Todd or Tom to send them a brief note on the groups behalf.

I just found this while at tvinsite looking for something else:

This was just posted yesterday evening (9/12)

It appears there will be a full blown hearing on DTV. Check your local listings on CSPAN.
