WISN-DT around Mid-October

I just this minute heard on WISN channel 12 news, that begining around mid October, we'll be 'able to watch your favorite shows like The Practice in HDTV'. Sounds great to me... we'll miss the first six weeks or so of the new season, but I'll take it. http://www.milwaukeehdtv.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

You know, I wish Tim would quit repeating the same old nonsence ... here's his blurb:

The launch of Channel 12's digital signal is now scheduled for mid-October, after Tuesday's Milwaukee Common Council failure to override Mayor John O. Norquist's veto of an addition to the station's tower.

Instead of adding to the tower, the ABC affiliate will mount the digital antenna on the side.

"I think it's more important to get moving on this," says Channel 12 general manager Frank Biancuzzo. "We want to be able to provide this service."

Wrangling with the City of Milwaukee over the tower prevented Channel 12 from transmitting its digital signal sooner, which is required to broadcast high-definition TV. The Federal Communications Commission had set a May 1 deadline for stations to begin transmitting a digital signal alongside the analog signal received on traditional TV sets.

Channels 4, 6, 10 and 58 are currently broadcasting some sort of digital signal with varying amounts of high-definition TV programming to the pioneers who've taken the plunge on the expensive new technology.

I guess I now know why I buy the Sunday paper only for the coupons + the HDTV and computer and Menard-like ads.

Or maybe he cant afford to dish out whatever it is to get something setup to see whatever is out there. Its been noted in past messages that the Journal Communications wont pay for him to have a DTV rig.

Im still looking for someone to donate a DTV rig to me, so I can get on the bandwagon http://www.milwaukeehdtv.org/ubb/wink.gif

I actually just noticed the part in the article where it says Norquist turned it down. Hmm.. Does anybody know how they filed their FCC Application? Did they file it in regards to where it is going now or where they wanted it to go? Just wondering if the license info is correct on the FCC's site.
