Could someone enlighten as to what channels are available in HD and what channel numbers they are using? Thanks in advance!

Channel 10 and 58 broadcast DTV 24 hours a day. Channel 4 broadcasts DTV during primetime hours (5:30pm-1:00am, correct me if I'm wrong). Channel 6 broadcasts a signal 24 hours a day so weak that no one has really been able to watch an entire show with it. I have never seen WITI-DT.

As for actual HD content, channel 4 has Crossing Jordan and Jay Leno right now, channel 58 has all of their scripted primetime shows. I have never seen an HD show on channel 10 and not for lack of trying. I have flipped on the TV every time for the last week when there was supposed to be an HD show on only to be greeted with the SD broadcast. I think that about covers it.

Although 6 has a digital transmitter I have never seen a HD production....they don't even transmit up=converts. It's always 4:3 aspect ratio.

I am recieving a 100% signal from 6-1 at 11am, but at night the best I can get is 10 to 15 percent, and no lock.

What gives?!?

West Allis and 100%!?!?!? I can only assume you are using an outdoor antenna? If not I would definitely be interested in knowing which indoor antenna you are using! I'm in Wauwatosa and only get a signal strength of 3.

I am using the RS VU-210. I picked it up on clearence for $4.95. I also have a rotor and it is chimney mounted on a two and a half story house with a thirteen foot mast, located at 90th and National. The strange thing is the rotor is only at about 12 degrees, but at antennaweb.org , they say it should be at 48.

I just put it up last week, checked all the stations right away, and got all Milwaukee DT stations at 100%.

Then that night when I tried to check out 6-1 again, I couldn't get it better than 10 or 15 percent. I thought I just imagined that I had gotten it earlier in the day, and kind of forgot about it. Then this morning I checked it again, and its back to 100%!

I get some of Chigago on a limited basis, but haven't had the time untill today to really play with it. I think I also need to trim a tree to get Chicago better.

I also tried Green Bay for ABC, and didn't get more than 10%. I think I am too low to get Madison as well, I think its the Sunny Slope hill.

The reason you get at 12 degrees is that they are not at their licensed location. They have a small antenna on their Weather Radar Tower at their studios...so that is probably where 12 degrees is from your house.

I knew I should have put up a rooftop antenna when I was getting my roof done. Even had the scaffolding and everything. There is no way now I can do it, unless I have it professionally done seeing as I have a two and a half story house.
Regret sucks.

Mike,

This may sound strange, but you might be getting interference from ch 4 DT. Check to see if the signal comes back after Leno. I have problems with 58 when 4 is transmiting.

I was mistaken on the model of my antenna. It is a U-120. I think it is discontinued because I couldn't find it on the web site. It is a big YAGI style antenna.

I am now able to recieve 6-1 at 100% 24/7, so I don't know if they are boosting the signal, or if I just have a lucky line of site.

Also I had a guy come out to look at the tree I wanted trimed, and unfortunately it and two others have Dutch Elm disease, and will have to be removed entirely. At least I should get a clear shot at Chicago.

I can't believe that you are getting 100% on 6-1 yet I can't even get a signal lock w/indoor except under the best of atmospheric conditions. http://www.milwaukeehdtv.org/ubb/frown.gif Must be the line of sight. Under most conditions I can get 85+ on 1-1 and I always get 100% on 4-1. Will have to check again tonight.

I put this antenna up mainly to try to recieve an ABC feed from Chicago, but I have found that even when it is pointing due North to get the Fox signal, I get all of the other Milwaukee signals at 100% as well. I even get the Channel 10-1 thru 5, and it is in the VHF band, and my antenna is UHF only.

I just wish there was more True HDTV being brodcast on them.

Has anyone else noticed the very faint signal on 34 which I believe is WISN? I occasionally check it to see if they have started broadcasting, and I will get spikes from 0 to 15. I was getting some of that last night.

I am not sure what you are getting, but I had last heard that all WISN's digital broadcasting equipment was laying on the ground next to the antenna because they have been in permanent permit negotiations with Milwaukee for like 3 years now.
Maybe this fall, or after Milwaukee finally says yes to them after being asked for the hundreth time.

Here's hoping....

Damn, I just read closer...you are getting 100% on 6-1 ?????????
Wow, I cant pick up anything with them. I get everything at about 90% with my RS double bow tie, but nothing with FAUX.

....regret settles in as he realizes he had the chance to put up an antenna, but passed....

Might this not be signal bleed from 33? If you're getting 100% on 33, there might be enough signal to actually interfere with the adjacent channel? Do you get a similar signal from 32?

I just checked with my RSDBT and I don't get anything on either 33 or 34. http://www.milwaukeehdtv.org/ubb/frown.gif

I have never noticed anything on 32, and I checked all the major cities around us and don't see anything else on 34.

The nearest 34 I could find was a UPN in Jackson MI, (not anywhere near where I am pointing the antenna) and they aren't supposed to be broadcasting until 11/1/2002.

If it isn't WISN I don't know what it would be. I suppose it could be bleed over from WITI, but I don't even get that from the others that are broadcasting at much greater power.

Could it be WFLD Fox Chicago on 32-1. I've no idea what rusty piece of metal is on my roof, but I'm picking up Fox Chicago from 6th & Grange.

I have tried to get the Chicago stations, but I believe I have an Elm tree that is in my line of site.

I can get a choppy signal on WLS 52, but it spikes from the mid twenties to mid seventies. I am hopeful that it is due to the wind in the tree, as the best I get when it is calm is about 10 to 20 percent.

The tree will be coming down soon because it has Dutch Elm disease.
